The Accountant General (A&E) directs, monitors and controls the activities of the various branches of the office.
Accountant General (A&E) is entrusted with the Accounting and Entitlement functions of the State Government. The total effective strength of the office as on 01-12-2013 stands at 888 comprising of 6 IA & AS Officers, 16 Sr.AOs, 25 AOs, 129 AAOs, 16 AAOs (Regular Temporary), 1 Sr.P.S, to Accountant General (A&E), 01 Hindi Officer, 04 Supervisors, 09 Personal Assistants, 01 Sr. Console Operators, 01 Welfare Assistant, 421 Sr.Accountants, 64 Accountants, 26 Clerk / Typists, 01 Console Operator, 21 Data Entry Operator, 02 Junior Hindi Translators, 01 Staff Car Driver, 01 Selection Grade Record Keepers, 123 Multi Tasking Staff and 19 AGOD Canteen Staff.
The Accountant General is in overall charge of the office who is assisted by 5 Deputy Accountants General who are in charge of each Functional Group. DAG (Admn) with fourteen sections under his charge is in direct charge of Administration.
DAG (Accounts and VLC) with 39 sections under her supervisory charge is responsible among other things for compilation and consolidation of monthly accounts, preparation of monthly Civil Accounts of the State, preparation of Finance Accounts, Appropriation Accounts, maintenance of accounts relating to HBA sanctioned upto 31.8.89 and MCA, Inspection of Treasury Accounts and computerisation of Accounting Functions of the office (VLC).
DAG (Funds) with 27 sections under his charge is responsible for the maintenance of PF accounts of the State Government employees, All India Service officers of Karnataka Cadre and Judges.
DAG (GE) with 21 sections under his charge is responsible for regulation of Pay and Allowances of Gazetted Officers and maintenance of their leave accounts.
DAG (Pension) with 22 sections under his supervisory charge is responsible for the verification of pension claims and issue of authorizations there of to state Government Employees including employees of Aided Institutions, allocated employees of Universities, authorization of Honorarium to Freedom Fighters, Artists, Journalists etc.
