Section & Function
Besides conducting IT Audit Section is primarily responsible for conducting IT Audit reviews of major IT installations of Central Railway as advised by CAG’s office.
IT Audit, the section prepares budgetary requirement for procurement of hardware for the office. Procurement, installation and maintenance of hardware at HQrs and field offices is looked after by the section.
As per the directives of the CAG’s office, all the hardware purchases are being done through Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal (https://gem.gov.in).
Similarly, budgetary requirement for annual maintenance charges for computer hardware in Hqrs and field offices along with procurement of computer stationery is prepared. The annual maintenance contract for Hqrs is prepared and maintenance of hardware in field offices is monitored. Distribution of computer stationery items among different users is done by this section.
In addition to the above work, the section coordinates with various external agencies like maintenance vendors, National Informatics Centre (NIC), Railnet, IS wing of CAG’s office, Central Railways’ IT Centre etc, for resolution of IT related issues.
